Women's soccer falls at No. 10 University of Chicago

GAME STATS Chicago, Ill. - The Wheaton women's soccer team traveled to University of Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to face the Maroons. Chicago, ranked 10th this week in Division III by United Soccer Coaches, defeated the Thunder 4-0. Chicago improves to 5-0-0 on the season.

The Maroons led 2-0 at halftime thanks to a pair of first-half goals. Chicago's Nicole Kaspi collected the ball off a Wheaton turnover in the ninth minute of the match to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Hannah Rittenhouse of the Maroons scored her sixth goal of the season in the 42nd minute to put the hosts up 2-0. Chicago maintained a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Chicago's Allison Embroski scored for the hosts in the 74th minute to extend the Maroons' lead to 3-0. Alai Araujo-Elorza registered a goal for the Maroons in the 82nd minute to account for the 4-0 final score.

Chicago goalkeeper Miranda Malone made one save in 90 minutes of work in the Maroons' net to record the shutout. Wheaton netminder Lauren Ketchum allowed four goals and made 13 saves in 90 minutes for the Thunder.

Chicago out-shot the Thunder 32-2, including a 17-1 edge in shots on goal. Chicago was awarded eight corner kicks and Wheaton had two in the match.

Wheaton (1-3-1) returns to Joe Bean Stadium for its next match as the Thunder host Adrian College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
