Members of the Thunder track programs compete at Last Chance meets this weekend

The Wheaton track and field programs are sending athletes to a pair of local "Last Chance" meets this weekend. Several Thunder participants are competing at North Central's Dr. Keeler Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Naperville. On Saturday, Wheaton will have competitors at University of St. Francis' Fighting Chance Meet. The events this weekend are the first of two weekends at "Last Chance" meets

THURSDAY RECAP
On Thursday at North Central, the Thunder men's 4X400 meter relay team of Eli Odell, Andrew Lauber, Peter Van Os and Max Veth (PICTURED ABOVE) set a school record of 3:13.46. The foursome finished second at today's meet with an effort that currently ranks sixth in Division III.

Thunder senior Peter Bradley finished first in an eight-man field in the men's pole vault. Bradley cleared a height of 4.51 meters (14' 9-1/2") to win the event. Ethan Harsted placed third in the pole vault with an effort of 4.36 meters (14' 3-1/2").

FRIDAY RECAP
The Thunder programs returned to North Central on Friday for the final day of action at the Dr. Keeler Invitational. Jonah Jones won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:04.85 that ranks second in Division III in 2021. Kevin Riley finished 10th in the event with a time of 9:22.45 that is 22nd in the nation. 

Eli Odell won the men's 400-meter in 53.38-seconds. Odell's effort improved on his qualifying time for the Division III National Championship later this month. Odell's performance is currently sixth in Division III.

Max Veth finished fifth in the men's 400-meter dash. He posted a time of 48.42-seconds that currently ranks 19th in Division III. Ben Jackson was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.05-seconds and Isaiah Clausen was just behind him in sixth with a time of 15.06-seconds.

Senior Favor Ezewuzie improved on her school record in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.64-seconds to finish in first on Friday. Ezewuzie's performance is the fastest in Division III this year and the third-fastest time in Division III history. Amy Keane finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.82-seconds.

The Thunder women's 4X100-meter relay team finished first with a time of 47.80-seconds. The effort by the quartet of Sydney Jones, Abi Gum,  Keane and Ezewuzie currently ranked 12th in Division III.
