Thunder men’s track and field places second at the Benedictine University Invitational

 Lisle, Ill. – The Thunder track and field teams competed at the Benedictine University Invitational on Friday. The Wheaton men's team placed second in a field of thirteen, scoring 139 points. Ten Thunder athletes earned top-three finishes during the afternoon.

Eli OdellWheaton's strongest event of the day was the 4x400-meter relay, where three Thunder relay teams swept the podium, earning a combined 24 points for the team. The team of Eli Odell (PICTURED LEFT), Peter Van Os (PICTURED ABOVE), Max Veth and Andrew Lauber blew away the field and finished in first place with a time of 3:17.60. Chris Albert, Jameson Logan, Elliot Kim and Thomas Everest ran a 3:25.20 to finish in second place. Robert Smith, Isaiah Clausen, Nico Bradley and Jonathan Logan finished in third place, clocking in at 3:26.29.
 
The Thunder also had multiple point-scorers in the 110-meter hurdles, where Isaiah Clausen and Ben Jackson placed second and third, respectively. Clausen ran a 15.25-seconds and Jackson crossed the line at 15.62-seconds. In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Van Os, Bradley, Christ Albert and Ben Jackson earned a second-place finish with a time of 42.44-seconds.
 
Andrew Lauber placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.36-seconds. Elliot Kim ran a 1:56.97 in the 800-meter, good for third place. Eli Odell ran the 400m hurdles in 55.07-seconds to finish in third place.
 
Wheaton athletes competing in field events also had a strong showing on the afternoon. Robert Smith placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.80-meters to set a new personal best. Elijah Nitz was second in the shot put with a throw of 14.06-meters and second in the discus, throwing 41.69-meters. Trevor Gabriele came in third in the shot put with a throw of 13.47-meters.
 
The Thunder will be back in action on Saturday, April 17 when they welcome opponents to the Wheaton Invitational at McCully Stadium and Lawson Field.
