Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon to host Elmhurst College (1-2, 1-1 CCIW). Wheaton picked up a 9-0 victory against the Bluejays in the CCIW opener for the Thunder. Wheaton improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Freshman
Cody Ching and
Joey Geisz teamed for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Elmhurst tandem of Juston Penados and Brandon Fulmer.
Anderson Park and
Alex Winters picked up an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles against Ben Cavka and Florin Stan. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of
Jack Wenzel and
Graham Shelton defeated Shawn Sabaricos and Tavious Imperial of Elmhurst. 8-2.
Park was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles against Penados. Ching earned a 6-1, 7-6 win in his match at No. 2 single against Stan. Wenzel defeated Sabaricos 6-2, 6-4 in the match at No. 3 singles and Giesz rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 win at No. 4 singles against Fulmer.
Alex Winters earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles against Cavka and
Jacob Panjwani picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles against Imperial.
The Thunder return to action next Tuesday with a CCIW match at North Central. The match against the Cardinals is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Naperville.
