Kenosha, Wis. - The Wheaton women's tennis team closed out its 2021 season on Friday at the 2020-21 CCIW Women's Tennis Championship Semifinals. No. 3 seed Augustana defeated the shorthanded No. 2 seed Thunder 5-3. Wheaton closes the year with a 9-4 overall record.
Wheaton picked up one victory in doubles play as the No. 1 doubles team of
Emme Lindquist and
Abygale Ahn topped the Augustana tandem of Anne Timm and Lily Schoeck, 8-1. The Vikings led the Thunder 2-1 at the end of doubles play.
Augustana earned a win at No. 1 singles to extend its lead to 3-1.
Bethany Hoogerheide defeated Augustana's Caitlyn Hanulikova 7-6 (3), 6-3 in their match at No. 4 singles to trim the Vikings' lead to 3-2. Ahn defeated Augustana's Lily Schoeck 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to tie the team score at 3-3. The Vikings earned a victory at No. 4 singles to take a 4-3 lead and Augustana closed out the match with a victory at No. 3 singles.
