Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team closed out its 2021 regular season schedule on Friday afternoon with a 9-0 victory at home against Elmhurst (2-8, 2-6 CCIW). Wheaton improves to 8-3 overall and 7-1 in CCIW play.
The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Emme Lindquist and
Abygale Ahn defeated Elmhurst's Julia Kostadinova and Isabella Rahman 8-1.
Claire Dibble and
Bethany Hoogerheide teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles against June Bering and Megan Engstrom.
Lindsey Anderson and
Sarah Backer defeated the Bluejays' No. 3 doubles team of Morgan Bilancia and Bailey Ekstrand, 8-5
Lindquist earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Julia Kostadinova. Ahn earned a 6-2, 6-0 win against Bilancia in their match at No. 2 singles. Dibble defeated Rahman 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Hoogerheide was a 6-1, 6-2 victor at No. 4 singles against Ekstrand. Backer defeated Bering 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Caroline Park was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in her match at No. 6 singles against Megan Engstrom.
The Thunder will host a yet to be determined opponent on Tuesday, April 27 in a first round match of the 2021
CCIW Women's Tennis Tournament. The winner of that match will to the tournament's semifinal round at Carthage College on April 30. The final of the tournament will be at Carthage on Saturday, May 1.
