Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton Thunder men's basketball team is ranked third in the sixth D3hoops.com poll of the 2020-21 Division III season. This is the second-consecutive week Wheaton is ranked third. Wheaton was ranked fourth in the fourth poll of the season, and fifth in the poll for Week 3. The Thunder earned a spot at No. 7 in the first two weeks of the 2021 D3hoops.com Poll.

Wheaton is currently 11-0 on the season, and is one of only four undefeated NCAA Division III programs with 10 or more victories this season. The three other undefeated programs with 10 or more victories are No. 2 Trine University (15-0), No. 7 Dubuque (11-0) and unranked St. Scholastica. 

Wheaton is currently ranked in the top-20 of Division III in five statistical categories. Wheaton's average of just 9.7 turnovers per game ranks seventh in Division III, while the 1.62 assist-to-turnover ratio for the Thunder is ninth this season. The team is ranked 12th in scoring defense as the team is holding opponents to 61.7 points per game. Wheaton is ranked 13th in D3 in three-point field goal percentage (40.8%), The team is 16th in scoring margin with an average scoring margin of 16.3 points per game this season.

No. 1 seed Wheaton hosts No. 4 Augustana this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in a CCIW Tournament Semifinal matchup in King Arena. The winner of Tuesday's Quarterfinal will face the winner of Tuesday's other semifinal between No. 2 seed Illinois Wesleyan and No. 3 Elmhurst in Bloomington, Illinois. If Wheaton wins its semifinal game on Tuesday, it will serve as the host of Friday's Final.

Because of the smaller number of teams playing during the COVID-19 pandemic, this weeks D3hoops.com poll is limited to 15 teams. Last week's season-opening poll included 15 teams. Only teams which have played a game are eligible to receive votes. With the changing nature of the pandemic, the number of voters and teams voted for may change from week to week.
