Thunder track and field open outdoor season at Elmhurst Opener

Elmhurst, Ill. – Members of the Thunder track and field teams competed in their first meet of the outdoor season on Saturday afternoon when they traveled to Elmhurst for the Elmhurst University Opener meet. Despite both track and field teams taking limited rosters to today's meet, the men's team scored 75.50 points, placing fourth in the meet. The women's team also took fourth place, scoring 35 points.
 
In men's meet, Junior Isaiah Clausen won the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.81-meters. Robert Smith placed in two events at the meet for the Thunder. He took first place in the discus throw with a throw of 39.28-meters and took third place in the 110-meter hurdles, posting a time of 17.18-seconds. Junior Don Crowder cleared a height of 1.83-meters to come in second place in the high jump. Freshman Dolan Bair placed second in the shot put with a 9.38-meter throw. Senior James Van Drie earned a third-place finish in the discus throw with a throw of 36.09-meters.
 
Alyssa MilliganIn the women's meet, junior Anna Cressman placed in two events: the shot put and the discus throw. Her throw of 11.16-meters in the shot put earned her a second-place finish, and she finished fourth in the discus throw with a throw of 32.34-meters. Junior Alyssa Milligan (PICTURED LEFT) placed third in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:05.83. Amber Simic earned fourth place in the shot put, throwing 9.84-meters.
 
The Thunder will continue their outdoor season in Whitewater, Wisconsin on April 2 at the UW-Whitewater Rex Foster Twilight Meet.
