Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season Saturday with a victory against Concordia (Wis.). The Thunder defeated the Falcons 8-1 in the matchup at Centre Court Athletic Club.
The Thunder won two of the three matchups in doubles play.
Cody Ching and
Jack Wenzel teamed up for an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against Tim Peters and Cole Werning of CUW. Wheaton's No. 3 doubles team of
Alex Winters and
Jacob Panjwani earned an 8-1 victory against Thomas Melius and Joshua Klement.
Wheaton swept singles play with six victories.
Anderson Park was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles against Logan Snyder of Concordia. Ching defeated Peters 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Wenzel earned a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 at No. 3 singles against Nolan Rademacher of CUW. Wheaton's
Joey Geisz swept through Werning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Panjwani was a 6-2, 6-2 victor against Klement at No. 5 singles and Winters defeated Melius 6-1, 6-0 in their match at No. 6 singles.
The Thunder return to action next Saturday with a non-conference match at UW-Whitewater.Â
