Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton men's basketball team will participate in the CCIW Men's Basketball Tournament that begins this week, and will serve as the No. 1 seed of the Tournament. No. 1 seed Wheaton (10-0) will host No. 8 seed Millikin (1-10) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in one of four Quarterfinal matchups on Saturday, March 6. Wheaton heads into the conference tournament as one of only three undefeated NCAA Division III programs with 10 or more victories this season.
Saturday's three other Quarterfinal games are: No. 5 Carthage (5-6) at No. 4 Augustana (6-4); No. 7 North Park (3-10) at No. 2 Illinois Wesleyan (5-1) and No. 6 Carroll (4-7) at No. 3 Elmhurst (6-2).
The CCIW Tournament Semifinal games are schedule for Tuesday, March 9 at the highest remaining seed. If Wheaton advances from Saturday's Quarterfinal round it will host the winner of the Carthage/Augustana game.
EDITOR'S NOTE: If Wheaton is the host of a Men's Tournament Semifinal game; and also serves as the host of the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament Final on March 9, the time or date of the men's semifinal could be changed.
The two remaining teams will play each other on Friday, March 12 in the CCIW Men's Basketball Tournament Final at 7:00 p.m. If Wheaton advances to the Final, it will serve as the host for the first time since 2009.
Traditionally the winner of the CCIW Tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament. This year's NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament is canceled, and the winner of the CCIW Men's Basketball Tournament will be crowned as the 2021 CCIW Champion.
NOTE: Due to state and local restrictions, as well as campus visitor policies, no spectators will be allowed at any competition at this time.
