Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton head football coach Jesse Scott has announced the appointment of Andrew Bowers as the new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the Thunder football program. Bowers replaces Taylor Graham who served in the same role from February of 2020 until earlier this month when he resigned to pursue new professional opportunities.

Bowers has been a member of the Thunder coaching staff since 2018. He has served as an offensive assistant and special teams coordinator for the Thunder football program since February of 2020, and prior to that he was an offensive assistant for the Thunder in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

A 2017 graduate of Wheaton, Bowers was a two-time All-CCIW performer at quarterback for the Thunder, twice earning CCIW Offensive Player of the Week recognition. He is 12th in Wheaton history with 4,429 career passing yards with 42 touchdown passes in his tenure. He completed 60.2% (302-of-502) of his career passing attempts; and is 10th in program history in total offense with 5,409 total yards. He helped lead Wheaton to two NCAA Division III Playoff appearances in 2015 and 2016.

Scott notes of Bowers, "I'm really excited to promote Coach Bowers to his new role as our Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach.  Through the past four years on our staff, Coach Bowers has invested wholeheartedly in every facet of our program.  He challenges our players to maximize their ability on the field.  He is an eager learner and wants to become the best coach he can become.  Not only is he passionate about what we do on the field, though, Coach Bowers is equally passionate about seeing our men grow in Christ-likeness during their time as Wheaton Football players and beyond."
