The Thunder women's soccer to face UW-Oshkosh at UChicago in NCAA Tournament First Round

Wheaton, Ill. –  The Wheaton College women's soccer team will travel to University of Chicago on Friday for the opening weekend of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Thunder (11-7-2) will will face UW-Oshkosh (16-2-1) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in a First Round Game on the University of Chicago campus. Friday's other First Round match in Hyde Park will feature the host Maroons of UChicago (12-2-4) against Rhodes College (12-2-2) at 11:00 a.m.

Wheaton earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by defeated North Central College 2-0 on Saturday in the CCIW Tournament Championship Match. This year's trip to the postseason is Wheaton's 23rd appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Wheaton is 56-15-6 all-time in the postseason, with seven Final Four appearances and National Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007, in addition to runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2011. Wheaton's 56 all-time tournament wins is the fourth-highest among current Division III institutions.

UW-Oshkosh earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) bid last weekend with a 2-1 victory against UW-La Crosse in the WIAC Tournament Championship Match.

Friday's matchup between the Thunder and Titans will be the tenth meeting of the two programs. Wheaton holds an 8-0-1 advantage in the all-time series with UW-Oshkosh. The two teams have never met in the postseason, with the nine previous meetings coming in non-conference matches in the regular season.
