Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton College football team (9-1) will host a First Round Game of the 2021 NCAA Division III Playoffs on Saturday November 20. The Thunder will entertain Aurora University (8-2) at McCully Stadium in Wheaton on Saturday in a noon kickoff. The winner of next Saturday's Wheaton-Aurora game will advance to face the winner of another first round game between Central (Iowa) and Bethel (Minn.) on November 27.
The Thunder earned an at-large bid to the to the 2021 NCAA Division III Playoffs. Wheaton is making its 12
th overall appearance in the Division III Playoffs. Wheaton's 12 NCAA Playoff selections is tied for the second-most in CCIW history. The Thunder has compiled a 16-11 all-time record in the postseason, including a perfect 11-0 record in the first round.
Saturday's matchup will be the 16th meeting on the gridiron between Wheaton and Aurora, but the first-ever postseason meeting. The Spartans earned the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs by winning the NACC Championship for the second-consecutive season. The Spartans posted an 8-2 overall record in the 2021 regular season, with an 8-0 mark in NACC conference play.
Admission for Saturday's game is $8 for adults, $4 for students; and children under three are admitted for free. As a NCAA Championship event no free passes will be accepted. Tickets will be available at the gate on Saturday (Cash Only).
