Caleb Egbert was named a CCIW Football Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, winning the conference's weekly recognition on defense. This is the first career CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award for the senior.
Egbert was Wheaton's leading tackler in a 44-0 shutout of Elmhurst on Saturday. Egbert tallied a season-high nine tackles including two tackles for loss among seven solo stops. He also added a pass break-up and returned an interception 68 yards for a touchdown, marking his second-consecutive week with a pick-six. Egbert and the Wheaton defense limited Elmhurst to negative-eight yards rushing on 26 rushing attempts in the victory.
Egbert and the sixth-ranked Thunder travel host Illinois Wesleyan for "Senior Day" on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Titans.
