Volleyball closes out the regular season at the WLC Warrior Invitational

Milwaukee, Wis. - The Wheaton Thunder volleyball team closed out the regular season portion of its 2021 schedule on Saturday with a pair of matches at Wisconsin Lutheran College's "Warrior Invitational". Carroll defeated Wheaton, 3-1 in the opening session of the day. MSOE defeated the Thunder 3-1 (13-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22) later in the day. Thunder libero Allie High was selected to the "Warrior Invitational" All-Tournament Team for her performance this weekend.

Wheaton is now 13-16 on the season. The No. 4 seed Thunder will host No. 5 seed Millikin on Tuesday night in a quarterfinal match of the 2021 CCIW Women's Volleyball Tournament.

In the opening match of the day, Carroll was a 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 25-19) victor against the Thunder in a non-conference match. Caroline Capps, Kaylee Byerly and Briley Brogan each tallied seven kills to lead the Thunder. Marlee Anderson distributed 18 assists and she added three service aces. High led Wheaton with 14 digs in the match, and Major had a team-high four total blocks.

MSOE defeated Wheaton, 3-1 (13-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22) in the final regular season match of 2021 for the Thunder. Senior Colleen Smith led Wheaton with 17 kills and Audrey Gerze tallied 10 kills. Byerly had nine kills, with six for Major and five for Brogan. Anderson had 38 assists in the match, with three service aces. High again led the Thunder with 26 digs.
