Mequon, Wisconsin – The Wheaton wrestling team opened its 2021 season on Saturday with four CCIW dual matches hosted by Concordia University (Wis.). Today's return to action marks the first day of competition for Wheaton Athletics since March 14, 2020.
The Thunder grapplers opened today's action with a
32-9 victory against MSOE and Wheaton followed that with a
55-0 win against Lakeland. The host Falcons of Concordia (Wis.)
edged the Thunder, 20-19 in Wheaton's third match of the day. The Thunder closed out the day with a
53-0 victory against first-year program Carthage.
Junior
Natan Jara won all four of his matches on Saturday, including three victories by fall.

Ethan Renager and Giovany Amira won three matches on the day.
Wheaton returns to action next Friday when it hosts a five-team dual meet event in King Arena. The Thunder open the event at noon with a matchup against Carthage, followed by Elmhurst at 1:30 p.m. Millikin takes on Wheaton at 3:00 p.m. and the Thunder close out the event next week against MSOE at 4:30 p.m.
