Wheaton, Ill.
– Several Wheaton student-athletes from Thunder spring sports have been recognized for their efforts in the classroom by the CCIW. The 2020 CCIW Academic All-Conference Team for the spring season includes 87 Wheaton student-athletes. The Academic All-Conference team consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors from CCIW member institutions who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, the CCIW continues the CCIW Academic All-Conference Team and Jack Swartz Award for spring sports, utilizing each team's roster at the start of the spring season.

Two Thunder student-athletes earned recognition as the school's spring recipients of the Jack Swartz Award. Favor Ezewuzie of the women's track and field team was Wheaton's female honoree of the Jack Swartz Award and Kevin Riley of the Thunder men's track and field team was Wheaton's male recipient. Ezewuzie is a three-time time indoor track & field All-American in 2020 and a 12-time All-American in her career.  She is an Elementary Education major with a 3.71 cumulative grade point average. Riley, a 2020 USTFCCCA indoor track & field All-American in 2020, is a sophomore mathematics major at Wheaton with a 3.81 cumulative grade point average.

The Jack Swartz Award is given to one male and one female athlete from each conference school at the conclusion of each of the three athletic seasons (fall, winter and spring). The honor is given by the CCIW and each of the eight schools in the league picks their own representatives. The winners from each school must earn a varsity letter in his/her sport and have a grade point average of at least 3.50. The award is named after the late Jack Swartz, a former Wheaton student-athlete, coach and athletic administrator who served as the first Commissioner of the CCIW until his death in 1998.
