Tucson, Ariz. – The Wheaton baseball team defeated Mayville State 16-4 on Saturday morning in Arizona. The contest was the last game of Wheaton's Spring Break trip and also the season finale as a result of Friday's announcement that CCIW sports and Wheaton Athletics are canceled for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Wheaton concludes the season with 6-1 record.
Wheaton scored 15 runs, on 23 hits, with one error. Mayville State tallied four runs, on nine hits, with one error.

Senior
Christian Bolhuis (2-0) earned the victory on the mound. Bolhuis threw five innings of scoreless baseball, scattering four hits. He struck out five batters and did not allow a walk. Fellow senior
Alex Hanvey pitched one inning of relief, allowing one run, on two hits. Senior
Jacob Cassel allowed three runs, on two hits with one walk in relief.
Christian Gibbs, a senior, pitched 2/3 of an inning, with no runs allowed and he gave up one hit.
Noah Ritchie (PICTURED LEFT) was 3-for-5 at the plate for the Thunder, hitting a triple. He scored twice and drove in two runs.
Connor Hartman was 3-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs with two RBI.

Catcher
Sam Reichert (PICTURED RIGHT) was 3-for-5, driving in one run. Leftfielder
Cale Lewis was 2-for-3 with a three run home run. Larken Lewis was 2-for-2 and
Matthias Haggerty was 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice.
Joel Pierce was 2-for-4, with a run scored and a RBI.
Ben Weaver was 2-for-4, scoring twice.

Wheaton took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Pierce hit a two-out double down the leftfield line in the first and scored two batters later on a RBI-single by Ritchie.
The Thunder extended the lead to 5-0 with four runs in the top of the second inning. The key hit in in the inning was Lewis' (PICTURED LEFT) three-run home run over the fence in left field. Reichert added a RBI-single in the second for the Thunder.
Bolhuis continued to keep the Mayville State offense at bay and in the top of the third inning, Wheaton scored three runs to extend its lead to 8-0. Haggerty hit a RBI-double to drive in Wheaton's first run of the inning
Graham Core drove in a run and Pierce hit a RBI-single through the left side of the infield.

Wheaton did not score in the fourth or fifth innings, but the Thunder added four more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Ritchie hit a RBI-triple early in the sixth and Hartman added RBI-single.
Brett Albaugh (PICTURED LEFT) drove in a pair of runs with a double to left centerfield in the sixth to increase Wheaton's lead to 12-0. The Comets got on the board with one run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Wheaton lead 12-1.

The Thunder added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Hartman (PICTURED RIGHT) hit a RBI single to open the scoring in the inning and
Carson Slater hit a double to left field that drove in a run. Lancaster hit a RBI-single to left field.
Stephen Pierson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to give Wheaton a 16-1 lead. The Comets scored three times in the bottom of the seventh as the game ended after seven innings on the 10-run rule, as Wheaton emerged with the 16-4 victory.
