Lake Geneva, Wis. – The Wheaton men's tennis team concluded its participation in UW-Whitewater's tournament this weekend with two matches on Saturday. The Thunder opened Saturday's action with a 5-4 victory against Luther College on Saturday morning. Grinnell topped the Thunder 6-3 in the second match of the day.
In the victory against Luther, Wheaton picked up one victory in doubles play. The No. 2 doubles team of
Jack Wenzel and
Jeremiah Yi earned an 8-2 victory against Luther's Karki Sakchham and Ryan Ortega.
The Thunder won four of the six singles matches to rally for the 5-4 team win against the Norse.
Anderson Park was a 6-2, 6-2 victor against Cole Schneider of the Norse at No. 1 singles.
Nathan Fruh picked up a 6-1, 6-5 win against Luther's Brook Norwood at No. 3 singles. Wenzel was a victor at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win against Karki Sakchham.
Andrew Bristol defeated Luther's Charlie Weill 6-0, 6-3, 10-2 in their matchup at No. 6 singles
In the match against Grinnell, Wheaton earned a victory at No. 1 doubles. Park and Bristol earned an 8-4 win against Grinnell's No. 1 doubles team of Bowen Mince and George Kaslow. Park was a 1-6, 6-0, 10-5 victor against Mince in their matchup at No. 1 singles. Wenzel defeated Kaslow 6-2, 6-2 in their matchup at No. 4 singles.
Wheaton travels to Iowa next Saturday for matches against Coe and Simpson.
