Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton head wrestling coach
Jim Gruenwald is this week's guest on the Thunder Sports Report podcast. Gruenwald sits down with
Rusty Lindsey to discuss his journey from Marantha Baptist Bible College to representing the United Stats at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. He also talks about how what motivates him as a coach differs from what motivated him as an athlete and what lies at the foundation of the Wheaton wrestling program.
Gruenwald is in his 12th season as the head coach of the Thunder wrestling program. A former Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational champion during his career at Maranatha, Gruenwald is also a member of the 20-win club at the prestigious Midlands Invitational. The 2015 CCIW Coach of the Year, Gruenwald led Wheaton to it's first CCIW title in 30 years and has mentored seven All-Americans during his tenure.
