Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College head men's basketball coach
Mike Schauer has announced his team's recruiting class for the 2019-20 season. The 10 students, hailing from eight different states, have submitted a deposit to attend Wheaton College in the fall with plans of playing for the Thunder men's basketball team.
The newcomers with plans to join the Thunder in 2019-20 are:
Prince Ako (Berwyn, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) - Ako is a 6' 5" forward joining the Thunder for the upcoming season. In his final season at Hope Academy averaged 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He also contributed 3.5 assists and nearly one steal per game as a team captain. He helped lead his team to both a Sectional and Regional Championship.
Johnny Bultema (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hills High School) - A 6' 7" forward, Bultema averaged 14 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game in his senior season at Indian Hills High School. A First Team All-Conference selection in the Cincinnati Hills League, he was named to the Cincinnati Division II All-Star Team. A Division II All-Southwest District selection in 2018 and 2019, Bultema is fifth in Indian Hills High School history in three-pointers made.
Eli Considine (Baraboo, Wisconsin/Portage High School) – Considine is a 6' 4" wing, earning honorable mention All-State recognition 2019. He averaged 25 points and six rebounds per game as a senior to earn team MVP honors. A Co-Area Player of the Year, Considine picked up First Team All-Conference recognition. His 574 points as a senior set a new school single-season record and his 1,089 career points is sixth all-time. He earned selection to both the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Badger North vs. South All-Star Games.
Daniel Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Legacy Christian Academy) - A 6' 3" guard, Garza helped lead Legacy Christian Academy to a Final Four appearance in the state tournament as he earned a selection to the all-tournament team. The 2018-19 District MVP, he helped lead his squad to a District Championship. A First Team All-State selection as a senior, he averaged 16.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Garza added 5.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game in his final high school season. He was the salutatorian of his graduating class.
Jeremiah (JT) Reeves (Lexington, South Carolina/River Bluff High School) – A 6' 6" forward, Reeves was an All-State selection in South Carolina's Class 5A as a senior. A two-time All-Region honoree, he was named to the Class 5A North-South All-Star Team in his final prep season, averaging 17.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in that campaign.
Jacob Schauer (Wheaton, Illinois/Wheaton North High School) – Schauer is a 6' 0" guard, earning All-DuKane Conference recognition as a senior. He averaged 14.1 points per game in his final season for the Falcons, with a 90.4% effort at the free throw line. Schauer also grabbed 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in his 2018-19 campaign at Wheaton North.
Eddie Scott (Bowie, Maryland/Annapolis Area Christian) – A 6' 3" guard, Scott averaged 12 points, five rebounds and four assists per game in his senior season. A two-year varsity starter, helped lead Annapolis Area Christian School to a 2018 Maryland Independent School Tournament Championship.
Stone Sinek (Fullerton, California/Fullerton Union High School) – Sinek is a 6' 1" guard, picking up First Team All-League honors three times in his high school career. He averaged 20.5 points per game as a senior, ranking in the top-three in the county in scoring. Sinek was named team MVP three times in his prep career.
Chris Swardstrom (Irvine, California/Crean Lutheran High School) – A 6' 5" wing, Swardstrom averaged 18 points, six rebounds and six assists in his senior season. A First Team All-CIF Southern Section selection in Division II, he also was named to the First Team of the All-Academy League team. Swardstrom helped guide his team to a CIF Championship in his senior campaign.
Andrew Williams (Fishers, Indiana/Heritage Christian School) – Williams is a 6' 3" guard, picking up IBCA All-State recognition. He averaged 20.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game in 2018-19, leading the Eagles to a Sectional Championship as a senior. Twice an All-City selection, he also picked up All-Circle City Conference recognition in two seasons. A three-time team captain, he scored 1,202 career points.
