Gambier, Ohio - The Wheaton women's tennis team bowed out of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on Friday with a 5-0 loss to Carnegie Mellon University (17-7), the 11th-ranked team in Division III. Wheaton concludes the season with a 17-6 record and the 12th NCAA Championship appearance in program history.
Carnegie Mellon won the three doubles matches to open action on Friday morning. The Tartans' tandem ofDonna Taylor and Melissa Strome defeated Wheaton's
Claire Browning and
Claire Dibble 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Carnegie Mellon's Courtney Ollis and Vinaya Rao defeated
Sara Magnuson and
Nicole Freeman 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.Jamie Vizelman and Janabelle Wu topped the Thunder team of
Emma Westwick and
Bethany Hoogerheide 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Wu defeated Dibble 6-0, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 4 singles. Taylor was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at No. 1 singles against Westwick to secure the victory for the Tartans.
