Naperville, Ill. - The Wheaton baseball team ended its CCIW Tournament run on Friday morning in a 9-0 loss against North Park in an elimination game of the tournament. Wheaton ends the season 24-16, tying the program's single-season record for victories at 24. Wheaton also recorded 24 wins in 2017 and 2010.

North Park scored nine runs, on 12 hits, with no errors and Wheaton tallied zero runs, on five hits, committing two errors. Christian Bolhuis started the game on the mound for the Thunder, working 5-1/3 innings. He allowed six runs, including five earned runs, on eight hits, with two strikeouts and three walks. Christian Gibbs faced two batters, allowing one run. David Solfelt pitched two innings, allowing two runs, on four hits, with one strikeout. Kevin Champlin pitched 2/3 of an inning, striking out one batter. Senior Luke Kram pitched 2/3 of an inning to close out his collegiate career and fellow senior Caleb Selk ended his collegiate career with 1/3 of an inning.

Senior Evan Ogden had Wheaton's lone extra-base hit in the game, with a double. Matthias Haggerty, senior Clay Morrison, Sam Reichert and Graham Core each added singles for the Thunder.

North Park gaine a 1-0 lead with one run in the top of the second inning. The Vikings added a run in the top of the fourth inning to give NPU a 2-0 lead. The Vikings broke the game open with five runs in the top of the sixth inning as North Park increased its lead to 7-0. North Park added two runs in the top of the eighth inning to account for the 9-0 final score.

Note Worthy: The Thunder pitching staff accumulated 302 strikeouts this season, the second-highest single-season total in program history...the .965 fielding percentage for Wheaton this year is the second-highest effort in team history...the 78 doubles for the Thunder this year is the third-highest single-season total in team history and Wheaton's 21 triples is tied for third...the team registered 413 hits, the sixth-highest effort in team history and Wheaton's 250 runs is eighth all-time...Wheaton's .302 batting average this year is sixth in team history...senior pitcher Michael McCraith departs the program second all-time in strikeouts (247) and second in wins (19)...Nick Mailman's five triples this season tied the program's single-season record...Mailman leaves the Thunder baseball program second all-time in stolen bases (62), tied for third in triples (10) and fourth in runs scored (131)...senior Ben Brittain graduates from Wheaton ranked third in program history in triples (10), fourth in at bats (612), fifth in base hits (204), fifth in assists (344), fifth in games played (157) and sixth in doubles (40)...Selk's 19 appearances this season is the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and he graduates fourth on the program's all-time saves list.
