Notre Dame, Ind. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team traveled to St. Mary's College (Ind.) for its first match since March 15. The Thunder defeated the Belles 8-1 as Wheaton improves to 11-4 on the season.
Wheaton swept the three doubles matches against St. Mary's this afternoon. The No. 1 doubles team of Claire Browining and
Claire Dibble defeated the Belles' tandem of Monica Davy and Megan Davy, 8-5. Wheaton's
Sara Magnuson and
Nicole Freeman earned an 8-2 victory against Lilly Chamberlain and Lily Brandt at No. 2 doubles. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of
Emma Westwick and
Bethany Hoogerheide picked up an 8-5 victory against the SMC team of Alyssa Gulli and Elizabeth Preister.
Westwick was a 6-2, 6-1 victor at No. 1 singles against Monica Davy and Magnuson picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles against Megan Davy. Dibble was a 6-4, 6-4 winner against Chamberlain at No. 4 singles. Freeman defeated Preister 6-2, 6-1 in their matchup at No. 5 singles and
Emme Lindquist was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 6 singles against Nicole Becker.
The Thunder return to action on April 5 when the squad hosts Illinois Institute of Technology at 5:00 p.m.
