Altamonte Springs, Fla. - The Wheaton men's tennis team earned its first win of its four-match trip to Florida on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunder defeated Transylvania University, 7-2.
Wheaton's No. 3 doubles team of
Jacob Panjwani and
Jack Guenther earned Wheaton's lone win in doubles play against the Pioneers. The duo picked up an 8-6 win against Transylvania's Brandon Stofleth and Daniel Cooper.
The Thunder swept the six single matches this afternoon. Sophomore
Anderson Park was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles against Arjun Gupta. Wheaton's
Josh Cheng earned a 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 2 singles versus Hugo Kouhkna. Thunder freshman
Jacob Panjwani picked up a 7-6 (8-5), 6-1 victory against Nick McNamee.
Alexander Winters won a 6-4, 7-5 decision against Transylvania's Noah McNamee. Wheaton's
Andrew Bristol was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 5 singles against Stofleth.
Christopher Jones picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles against Transylvania's Hunter Gregg.
Wheaton (3-6) faces Austin College at noon on Thursday to conclude its action in Florida.
