CASE WESTERN RESERVE SPARTANS

The 2019 Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 13-5-0 overall record and a 2-5-0 mark in the University Athletic Association. The win total matched a program record for the team, originally set by the 2011 team, while the squad also set a program record for goals in a season with 46.
This year's NCAA Tournament bid is the second in the program history. The team's last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2011, when CWRU played host to the first two rounds of the tournament. The Spartans defeated Lebanon Valley 3-0 in the first round, before falling to Cortland State 1-0 in the round of 32.
Case Western Reserve is currently ranked 21st in the United Soccer Coaches Regular Season poll, and was ranked as high as 10th throughout the campaign. The Spartans have scored a program-best 46 goals this season on 305 shots, including 163 shots on goal. Sophomore midfielder Anika Washburn leads all CWRU players with 14 goals and has also tallied five assists for 33 points. Her 14 goals and 33 points have already broken the program's single-season goals and points record. Senior forward Kimberly Chen has added 19 points on seven goals and five assists, while first-year midfielder Merry Meyer leads the squad with eight assists.
The CWRU defense has been led by senior Mary Kate Ford, sophomore Kat Rebele and first-year Laura Gorjanc, who have helped the Spartans hold opponents to 10.2 shots and 5.1 shots on goal per game, and have recorded six shutouts. In goal, senior Lauren Unterborn has started 14 games, while posting a 0.97 goals-against average and a 0.802 save percentage.

WEBSTER UNIVERSITY GORLOKS

The Webster University women's soccer (15-4-1) is making its 14th appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament and its first appearance since 2017.
Webster qualified for the NCAA Tournament by earning the automatic bid from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as they posted a 1-0 win against No. 2 seed Greenville in the championship match of the SLIAC Tournament. Along with capturing its 10th all-time SLIAC Tournament title, Webster also earned a share if its eighth consecutive SLIAC regular season league title as the Gorloks went 7-1-1 in league play. The regular season title was the 14th in the 21-year history of the program.
Webster leads the SLIAC in scoring with 67 goals this season. Webster's offense is paced by a trio of All-SLIAC performers as First-Team All-SLIAC and two-time SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year senior Melissa Kasper leads the Gorloks in assists (17) and points (45) and is second in goals with 14. In addition to Kasper, Third-Team All-SLIAC sophomore Jordan Lande leads the team in goals with 18 and is tied for second in points with 37, while Second-Team All-SLIAC senior Savannah Page is third on the team in goals with 13 and has 11 assists. Webster is 10th nationally in points per game (9.60), 16th in scoring (3.35 goals per game) and seventh nationally in assists per game (2.90).
On defense, Webster is paced by two-time SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-SLIAC senior Lilly Brauer. Brauer anchors a Webster defense that has allowed just 13 goals and 179 shots in 20 matches. In addition, Brauer and her defensive mates have posted 13 shutouts. In SLIAC play, WU allowed just one goal in nine matches and had eight shutouts. In addition to Brauer, freshman Taryn Banfield, who was named the SLIAC Tournament MVP, has been strong in net for the Gorloks as she is 14-3-1 on the season and has recorded 66 saves and has allowed 10 goals.

WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER

Wheaton (16-1-2) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The CCIW regular season champions with an 8-0 record in conference play, the Thunder tied Augustana 0-0 in a semifinal of the the CCIW Tournament, with Augustana advancing to the tournament final in a shootout.
Wheaton is 2-1-1 against teams selected to this year's NCAA Tournament. The Thunder defeated Illinois Wesleyan and Ohio Northern, tied University of Chicago and lost at WashU.
This year's trip to the postseason is Wheaton's 22nd appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Wheaton is 54-15-5 all-time in the postseason, with seven Final Four appearances and National Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007, in addition to runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2011. Wheaton's 54 all-time tournament wins is fourth in tournament history.
The 2019 CCIW regular season championship is the 21st in program history. Thunder head coach
Pete Felske was recently named the CCIW Coach of the Year. Junior defender
Sarah Tomich, an All-American in 2018, repeated as the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. Tomich, a First Team All-CCIW selection this season, was joined on the First Team by midfielders
Sara Bakke and
Carney Blake. Defender
Izzy McNally earned Second Team All-CCIW recogntion and goalkeeper
Lauren Ketchum also picked up Second Team honors.
Bakke leads the Thunder with 20 total points as she has 12 assists and four goals this season. Bakke's 12 assists this season ranks 15th in Division III.
Isabelle Oliver and
Jensen Ellis are tied for Wheaton's goal scoring lead with seven goals for each player.
Aeva Graber has six goals this year.
The Wheaton defense has allowed just eight goals in 19 matches this season for a 0.41 goals against average.

The College of Wooster women's soccer team (14-2-3) is making its fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships.
This is Wooster's second-consecutive trip after claiming back-to-back North Coast Athletic Conference tournament titles. They defeated Denison University 2-0 in the semifinals and DePauw University 1-0 in double overtime for the championship.
Junior Miura Wiley is the team's top player with 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. Classmate Mila Zunich and sophomore Holly Thompson are tied for second with six goals each.
Defense has been a big component of Wooster's success this season. Thirteen of their 14 wins have come via the shutout.
Junior goalkeeper Molly Hutter is riding an eight-game shutout streak. She has 14 on the year, which ties her nationally for most shutouts.
Head coach Geordie Brown is in his 29th year at Wooster. His overall record of 326-171-54 not only makes him the winningest women's soccer coach at Wooster but puts him among the top-30 in NCAA DIII history for victories.
