Wheaton, Ill. – The No. 14 Wheaton women's basketball team earned a 59-38 victory at home on Tuesday night against Lakeland University (0-2). Wheaton improves to 2-0 on the season.

Kristi Demski led the Thunder with 15 points, shooting 5-of-7 from three-point range. Sophomore
Hannah Swider (PICTRUED LEFT) scored a career-high 13 points with a 3-for-6 effort from three-point range.
Hannah Frazier scored 12 points with seven rebounds. Frazier added three assists, four steals and two blocked shots. Senior
Jill Berg scored six points with four rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists.
Kirsten Madsen scored five points with four assists. Senior
Jordan Myroth had a game-high seven assists.
Wheaton shot 38.6% (22-of-57) from the field in the game, including 34.5% (10-of-29) from three-point range. The Muskies posted a 23.3% (10-for-43) field goal percentage, including 27.3% (3-of-11) from three-point range. The Thunder shot 83.3% (5-of-6) at the free throw line and Lakeland had an 88.2% (15-of-17) effort at the charity stripe.
Megan Will led the Muskies with 20 points and seven rebounds. Amanda Majewski added nine points with six rebounds for Lakeland.
Lakeland held the Thunder in check for much of the first half. The Muskies led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter. Wheaton's first lead of the game came on the final basket of the first half when
Hannah Frazier scored with 14-seconds remaining in the second quarter to give Wheaton a 20-19 lead at halftime.
The Muskies led 29-28 when Lakeland's Morgan Zenon made a basket to increase the guests' lead to 31-28 with 4:51 left in the third quarter. It was Lakeland's final lead of the game. Demski made a three-pointer with 3:50 left in the third quarter to tie the game at 31-31 and Madsen followed with a pair of free throws to give Wheaton a 33-31 lead with 3:12 left in the third period. Demski made back-to-back three-pointer as Wheaton extended its lead to eight points at 38-31 with 1:23 left in the third quarter. The Thunder led 41-33 at the end of the third.
Wheaton out-scored the Muskies 17-2 in the first 6:40 of the fourth quarter to give the hosts a 23-point lead at 58-35 with 4:29 remaining in the game. Swider made a pair of three-pointers in the key run to help Wheaton's effort.
Wheaton hosts the Beth Baker Classic this weekend in King Arena. The Thunder open the tournament at 3:00 p.m. against Lake Forest College. Alma faces Wisconsin Lutheran College at 1:00 p.m. in the tournament's opening game.
