Lisle, Illinois - The Wheaton volleyball team (17-12) concluded the regular season on Friday with two matches at Benedictine University's "Eagle Classic". Wheaton defeated Rockford 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-16) in the final match of the night for the Thunder. Wheaton opened its participation in the event with the match against Benedictine. The Eagles topped the Thunder, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20).
In the victory against Rockford,
Deborah Smith led the Thunder with eight kills on just eight swings with a .467 attack percentage.
Ellie Brown had seven kills and
Colleen Smith tallied six kills with a .600 attack percentage.
Audrey Gerze added five kills for the Thunder.
Marlee Anderson led the Thunder with 17 assists and
Alecia Funk added 14 assist.
Cassie Swiderek led the Thunder with eight digs and
Allie High added six. Brown had a team-high four total blocks in the match and
Deborah Smith added three. Gerze and Anderson each had three service aces.
Gerze led the Thunder with 12 kills in the match against Benedictine.
Colleen Smith added 11 kills, while
Deborah Smith had nine. Anderson distributed 21 assists in the match against the Eagles and Funk added 18.
