GAME STATS Decatur, Ill. – Millikin University (10-8/3-1 CCIW) defeated the Thunder volleyball team, 3-1 on Tuesday night in a CCIW matchup. Millikin won the opening set 25-15 and the Big Blue earned a victory in the second set 26-24. Wheaton rallied to win the third set 25-23 and Millikin closed out the win with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set. Wheaton is now 13-7 on the season, with a 2-2 record in CCIW play.
 
Allie High (PICTURED ABOVE) had a team-best 32 digs in the match, with four service aces. Colleen Smith and Sadie Elsenbroek each tallied seven kills for Wheaton. Deborah Smith and Emma Sweatman each had five kills for the Thunder. Alecia Funk led Wheaton with 18 assists and Marlee Anderson added 12 assists.
 
Millikin won the first set 25-15. The Big Blue snapped a 6-6 tie in the set with a 10-3 run to take a 16-9 lead as the Big Blue pulled away for the win in the set.
 
The Big Blue won a tightly contested second set. The set was tied 9-9 when the Thunder out-scored the hosts 5-2 to take a 14-11 lead. Millikin responded to tie the set at 15-15. The two teams continued to exchange the lead. Wheaton led 24-23 when the hosts won the next three points to close out the set for the 26-24 win.
 
Wheaton won the third set 25-23. The Thunder jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the set as Millikin continued to cut into the Wheaton lead and tied the match at 14-14. The Big Blue led 22-20 when Wheaton responded with four-consecutive points to take a 24-22. Millikin trimmed the Thunder lead to 24-23, but a kill by Sweatman gave Wheaton the 25-23 victory in the set.

Millikin closed out the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set. Millikin snapped a 15-15 tie with a 4-1 run to take a 19-16 lead. The Big Blue never trailed after that point to earn the victory.

Wheaton remains in conference play on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with a CCIW match at Elmhurst.
