Men's soccer nets 3-1 road victory at Carroll

Waukesha, Wis. - The Thunder men's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak to three matches on Wednesday night with a 3-1 road victory at Carroll University. The victory pushes the Thunder to 8-4-2 on the season with a 2-2-1 mark in conference play. The Pioneers fall to 7-6 overall and 0-4 in the CCIW. Wheaton will step away from CCIW play for a 1 pm kickoff against UW-Whitewater at Joe Bean Stadium.

After playing 110 minutes without a goal on Saturday, the Thunder wasted no time getting on the scoreboard on Wednesday night, when Silas Galvao found Alessandro D'Argento just 6:33 into the match for D'Argento's fourth goal of the season.

The shot was Wheaton's only scoring attempt of the first half as the Thunder were outshot 10-5 in the match. Hasten Biddlecome recorded five saves on the night with three coming in the first half.

Carroll surged forward looking for an equalizer early in the second half, threatening with a header that sailed just over the crossbar in the 60th minute before Biddlecome turned away Shea Connell's shot just over a minute later, knocking the ball away for a corner kick which lead to another threatening header that sailed over the crossbar.

Wheaton countered minutes later when Sailas Galvao netted his fifth goal of the season on a Michael Groza assist at the 66:03 mark. Two minutes later Galvao found the net again, this time on a Michael Martens helper, pushing the lead to 3-0.

Carroll's lone goal of the night came in the 85th minute when Logan Michels converted a penatly kick to close the final gap to 3-1.
