Illinois Wesleyan shuts out the Thunder men's soccer team, 1-0

Bloomington, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan (8-1-0) utilized a second-half goal and hung on for a 1-0 win against the Wheaton Thunder men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton falls to 5-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in league play.
 
The Titans out-shot the Thunder 5-4 in the first half, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
 
The Titans' Keegan James scored the go-ahead goal for the hosts in the 63rd minute. His second goal of the season was assisted by Donovan Malone. Each team took four shots in the final 45 minutes of the match as the Titans held a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal

Thunder goalkeeper Hasten Biddlecome made seven saves and allowed one goal in his 90 minutes of work in the Wheaton net. IWU goalkeeper Alex Ruckstaetter made three saves in posting the shutout for the hosts.

Illinois Wesleyan owned a 9-8 advantage in shots for the match, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. The Titans were awarded five corner kicks and the Thunder attempted two.
 
Wheaton returns home next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. for a matchup with Elmhurst at Joe Bean Stadium.
