Wheaton, Ill
. - The Thunder men's soccer team continued its busiest stretch of the schedule on Monday night, playing its third game in the last five days. The Thunder defense carried over its strong play, posting its second shutout in a three-day span to lead Wheaton a 3-0 victory over Aurora University. The victory moves Wheaton's record to 4-1-1 overall on the season while Aurora falls to 1-6 with the loss.

Edward St. Martin made three saves and allowed three goals for the Spartans. Wheaton's Drew Cammarano took advantage of his first career start, earning the shutout by recording six saves.

Wheaton's attack applied pressure on the Spartans from the opening kickoff with Wheaton, firing off several scoring chances in the first minutes of the match. Shane Kopplin finally cashed in for the Thunder, finishing off a Ryan Melgar assist for his third goal of the season (VIDEO). Kopplin struck again four minutes later, this time on an assist from Joey Sopikiotis (VIDEO) to give Wheaton a 2-0 lead it would hold until halftime.

Cammarano took center stage early in the second half, turning away the Spartan attack as Aurora pressured the Wheaton defense. The Thunder were up to the task and added to their lead in the 76th minute when Andrew Wade (VIDEO) dribbled past a pair of defenders and found the net for his first goal of the season to give Wheaton a 3-0 lead. Cammarano would add two more saves in the closing minutes to preserve his first career shutout.

Wheaton will close out its stretch of four games in a week on Wednesday, when the Thunder host Lake Forest College for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Joe Bean Stadium.
