Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton's all-time rushing leader has signed a contract to play professionally with the Bloomington Edge of the Indoor Football League. Bloomington's season began on July 7 against the Rockford Rams.
"Sola is obviously an extraordinary talent and had a great career for us," said Wheaton head football coach
Mike Swider. Swider continued, "We're really excited for him. Anytime you can get a kid to continue to play it brings visibility and credibility to your program and there's nobody better than Sola to represent Wheaton Football. Someone who is our career rushing leader and is incredibly passionate about Wheaton. He's really worked hard to open this door and I'm incredibly happy for him."
A 2018 Wheaton grad, Olateju had a league-best 1,270 rushing yards this season, averaging 7.7 yards per carry with 13 touchdowns runs. Olateju's 7.7 yards per carry ranked third in Division III this season and he was 40th in the nation in points per game. Wheaton's all-time leading rusher with 3,194 career yards on the ground, he is fifth in program history with 34 career touchdowns.
Olateju was a two-time All-North honoree from D3football.com and earned three First Team All-CCIW honors at running back during his distinguished career with the Thunder.
