Bloomington, Illinois - The Wheaton Thunder men's tennis team returned to action on Friday night with a 9-0 victory at Illinois Wesleyan in the CCIW opener for the Thunder.

The Thunder jumped out to a 3-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches. Wheaton's No. 1 doubles team of Jeremiah Yi and Dane Paulsen earned an 8-5 victory against IWU's Kurt Meyer and Tim Hughes. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of Karl Wenzel and Anderson Park defeated Ryan Yoo and Justin Piotrowski. Andrew Bristol and Josh Cheng defeated the IWU No. 3 doubles team of Jimmy Kase and Dylan Mikali.

In singles action, Park was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Meyer at No. 1 singles. Paulsen won a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles against Piotrowski and Yi earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory versus Yoo at No. 3 singles. Cheng defeated Hughes 6-0, 6-4 in the matchup at No. 4 singles and Wenzel earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles against Mikali. Alexander Winters of Wheaton defeated IWU's Jimmy Kase at No. 6 singles. Winters let 4-0 in the first set when Kase retired from the match.

Wheaton travels to Millikin Saturday for a CCIW matchup with the Big Blue at 1:00 p.m.
