Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton softball team hosted University of Chicago on Thursday afternoon in the final two games of the 2018 season for the Thunder. Chicago defeated Wheaton 8-0 in today's first game and the Maroons earned the sweet with a 13-4 victory in the final game. The Thunder softball program honored seniors

Kendall Kehres and
Megan Neuhaus for "Senior Day" during today's doubleheader.
Chicago earned an 8-0 victory in the first game as the Maroons scored eight runs, on 10 hits, with one error and Wheaton was scoreless, on three hits with one error. Kehres worked all six innings in the circle, allowing eight runs, including six earned runs, on 10 hits, with four walks and four strikeouts.
Morgan Ryan,
Beka Behrens and
Ali Kent each hit singles for the Thunder.
The Maroons earned a 13-4 victory in the second game. Chicago scored 13 runs, on 11 hits, with no errors and Wheaton tallied four runs, on seven hits, with seven errors.
Kelly Thornton pitched five innings, allowing eight runs, including four earned runs, on eight hits, with two strikeouts. Freshman
Maddy Whitmer pitched two innings, allowing five runs, including one earned run, on three hits.
Megan Neuhaus was 2-for-4 with a double in her final collegiate game. Neuhaus drove in a run, scored a run and stole a base. Arthur (PICTURED LEFT) had a 2-for-3 effort with a RBI in her final game.
Sophie Kent was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Hannah Clark was 1-for-3 with her 24
th stolen base of the season.
Chicago scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. Wheaton responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game. Arthur hit a RBI-single in the inning as Ryan and
Beka Behrens each drove in a run.
Chicago regained the lead with five runs in the top of the fifth inning for an 8-3 Maroons lead. Chicago added three runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend the guests' lead to 11-3.
Sophie Kent hit a two-out single and scored on the next at bat when Neuhaus hit a double down the left field line in her final collegiate at bat. Chicago scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to account for the 13-4 final score.
