Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder swim teams participated in their second event in as many days on Saturday. Wheaton played host to North Central and Augustana for a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon with the Thunder men defeating North Central 160-61 and Augustana 129-123. The women defeated Augustana 134-107 and lost to North Central 138-113
Kristin Garner proved to be the fastest in the pool on Saturday, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 26.01 seconds as part of a sweep of the freestyle sprints.
Liz George won the 100-yard freestyle in 56.60 seconds, narrowly beating North Central's Beth Ryan who was second in 56.61 seconds.
Bethany Doyle won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:54.31 with a dominant 39 second cushion.
On the men's side, Wheaton swept the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle with Will Rinne leading the way in 21.38 seconds followed by Daniel Deysher in 22.15 seconds and Micah Kimel in 22.46 seconds. Rinne (1:55.93) also led a sweep of the 200-yard individual medley, topping Chris Szymczak (1:58.72) and Christian Cameron (2:04.51). Jack O'Connor won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.55, less than a second ahead of Bryan Haage of Augustana. Logan McDaniel won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:36.48 and a winning margin of over 13 seconds. Addison Coen was first in the 200-yard backstroke, claiming a five-second victory in 2:01.94. Chris Dingfield won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.11 and Szymczak won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.71 seconds.
Wheaton capped the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. Christan Cameron, Will rinne, Chris Plimpton and Joe Kim touched home in 1:27.79.
