Eric Stevenson has been named to the 2018 Associated Press Division III All-America football team on Thursday afternoon. Stevenson was among five CCIW honorees on the Associated Press All-America Team and one of three First Team selections from the conference
Stevenson, a linebacker for the Thunder, is a First Team selection Associated Press All-America Team. Stevenson made a team-high 74 total tackles this fall, including 41 solo stops. The senior registered 9.5 tackles for lost yardage (-29 yards), including two quarterback sacks (-13 yards).Â
Stevenson, the 2018 CCIW Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year is a two-time First Team All-CCIW honoree. He was recently honored as a D3football.com First Team All-North Region selection after earning Third Team honors in 2017. He was recently named a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy and was this year's only Division III finalist for the Campbell Trophy. Â
Wheaton's leading tackler in each of the past three seasons, Stevenson made 268 career tackles, including 150 solo tackles. The linebacker made 27 tackles for loss (-79 yards) in his career, with 5-1/2 sacks (-27 yards).
The 2018 season marks the second year that the Associated Press has named student athletes to a Division III All-America Team. Previously Division III football players were named to the Associated Press "Little All-America Team" that also consisted of NCAA Division II player and NAIA standouts. In 2017, Wheaton seniors
