Chicago, Ill. – The Wheaton women's basketball team (4-2, 1-0 CCIW) opened conference play on Saturday night with an 81-32 victory at North Park (3-4, 0-1 CCIW).
The Thunder scored the first nine points tonight and never trailed in the contest. The Thunder defense held North Park to just one made field goal in the first quarter as Wheaton led 25-4 after 10 minutes of play. Wheaton continued to dominate play in the second quarter as the Thunder led 45-11 at halftime. The Thunder shot 59.3% (16-of-27) from the field in the first half, including 71.4% (5-of-7) from three point range.
Wheaton out-scored the Vikings 18-10 in the third quarter and the Thunder had an 18-11 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter. Wheaton posted a 50% (16-for-32) field goal percentage in the second half, including 40% (4-of-10) behind the three-point arc.
Hannah Frazier led the Thunder with 31 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field. The junior also tied for a game-high 11 rebounds and she added three assists.
Devin Kyler scored eight points with 11 rebounds. The senior also distributed three assists with three blocked shots.
Jill Berg registered eight points, with six rebounds and four blocked shots.
Jordan Myroth and
Jennifer Berg each scored six points for the guests. Myroth distributed five assists and Berg grabbed six rebounds.

Hannah Swider and
Kristi Demski each scored five points for the guests.
Wheaton shot 54.2% (32-of-59) from the field in the game, including 52.9% (9-of-17) from three-point range. North Park posted a 14.1% (9-of-64) field goal percentage, including 11.1% (1-for-9) behind the three-point arc. Wheaton shot 88.9% (8-of-9) at the free throw line and the Vikings had a 41.9% (13-of-31) effort at the charity stripe. The Thunder out-rebounded the Vikings 54-37, with a 20-11 edge for the Vikings on the offensive glass. The Thunder blocked 13 shots in the game.
Jayla Johnson led North Park with seven points. Josie Summerville had a team-high five rebounds for the hosts.
Wheaton returns to action Wednesday when Carthage visits King Arena for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff against the Thunder.
