Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton (5-1) men's basketball team, ranked 18th in this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, lost its first game of the 2018-19 season on Thursday night in King Arena. University of Chicago (4-2) topped the Thunder 90-60.

Aston Francis (PICTURED LEFT) led the Thunder with 21 points, making four three-pointers. His second three-pointer of the night was his 242nd of his career to surpass the Wheaton career record of 241 three-pointers by Kent Raymond (2005-09). Francis now has 244 career three-pointers. He added five assists, five rebounds and two steals tonight. Francis also reached the 1,500-point milestone in his Thunder career in the game. He now ranks 14th in Wheaton's record books with 1,500 career points over his 57 career games.
Kobe Eichelberger scored seven points.

Jack Bennett each tallied six points.
Cade Alioth and
Tyson Cruickshank tied Francis for the team's rebound lead with five boards apiece.
Wheaton led 5-4 with 17:00 left in the first half. The Maroons responded with a 26-2 run to give the guests a 30-7 lead with 9:40 remaining before halftime. Chicago continued its lead for the rest of the first half as the guests led 52-25 at halftime.
Wheaton shot 35.7% (20-of-56) from the field, including 18.2% (4-of-22) from three-point range. Chicago posted a 47.1% (33-for-70) field goal percentage, including 32.4% (12-of-37) behind the three-point arc. The Maroons shot 92.3% (12-of-13) at the free throw line and Wheaton had a 66.7% (16-of-24) effort at the charity stripe. Chicago out-rebounded the Thunder 43-35, including a 12-11 edge on the offensive glass.
Six Chicago players scored in double digits tonight. Cole Schmitz, Ryan Jacobsen and Justin Jackson each scored a team-high 12 points for the Maroons. Noah Karras scored 11 points with 10 points apiece for Brennan McDaniel and Jordan Baum. Jacobsen led all players with nine rebounds and Baum grabbed eight boards. Baum had eight assists and five steals for the guests.
Wheaton opens conference play on Saturday at North Park in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff against the Vikings.
