Swimming participates in dual meet at UW-Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis. - The Thunder men's and women's swimming teams traveled north on Friday night for a dual meet at Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Thunder men's team fell to the Panthers 125-76 and the women's team fell 119-77. Wheaton will host its home opener next Saturday, November 10, when the Thunder host Calvin College at 1 pm.

The Thunder won three events in Friday night's dual meet and earned 12 runner-up finishes.

Chris Szymczak won a thrilling finish in the 50-yard freestyle winning by a margin of just .13 seconds with a time of 22.01 seconds. Szymczak also recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing just .12 seconds shy of first place. Abby Rutledge also earned a tight victory, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.59 with a winning margin of .16 seconds. Christian Cameron's victory in the 100-yard butterfly came in 51.97 seconds, pulling away to touch the wall 1.23 seconds ahead of the field.

Maggie Franke turned in runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.38) and 500-yard freestyle (5:40.32). Priscilla Min also turned in a pair of second place finishes, finishing runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley (4:46.07) and the 100-yard breaststroke, which she tied with Michaela Sandeno in a time of 1:10.11.

Ben Griffith finished second in the 400-yard IM in 4:18.05 and Stephen Larson was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.21 seconds. Chris Plimpton (5:50.28) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and Ethan Kile (1:01.64) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Brooke Barnes was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.46, Alex McKeaney was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.41 seconds, and Aleah Perkins finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.08.
