Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball team wrapped up the home portion of its 2018 schedule on Tuesday night as Carthage (18-8, 7-0 CCIW) visited King Arena. The Lady Reds defeated the Thunder 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-16). Wheaton is now 11-16 on the season with a 0-6 CCIW record.

Colleen Smith had a team-high 12 kills, with three errors on 30 attempts for a .300 attack percentage.
Madeline Moore added nine kills for the Thunder.
Kelly Thornton had 14 assists in the match and
Marlee Anderson added 11 assists for the hosts. Senior Jess Bosse tallied 13 digs and
Audrey Gerze registered 12 digs.
Linda Morton had a team-high 13 kills for the Lady Reds and Megan Behrendt added 10. Ellie LeCount had 30 assists for Carthage and Megan Dawrant had four service aces a Carthage squad that had 11 aces in the match. Laura De Rosales led the guests with 14 digs.
The Lady Reds won the opening set 25-23. Carthage jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in the first set, however, the Thunder used a 6-1 run to trim the guests lead to 12-10. Wheaton gained the lead at 16-15 and built a two-point edge at 18-16. The next several points went back-and-forth as the set was tied at 23-23. A kill by Carthage's Megan Behrendt gave the guests a 24-23 lead and an ace by Dawrant accounted for the 25-23 Carthage victory. Moore led the Thunder with six kills in the set as she had no attack errors on 10 swings for a .600 attack percentage.
Colleen Smith registered five kills with no errors on 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage.
Carthage earned a 25-19 victory in the second set. Much of the set was tightly contested as the set was tied at 16-16. However, the Lady Reds closed out the set with a 9-3 run to give the guests the 25-19 victory. Smith had four kills in the set for the Thunder.
The guests won the decisive third set 25-16. Carthage scored six-consecutive points to break a 10-10 tie as the guests gained a 16-10 lead. Carthage never trailed after that point in earning the victory in the set.
Colleen Smith and Moore each had three kills for Wheaton in the set .
Wheaton travels to North Central on Friday night for matchup with the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m.
