Chicago, Ill. - The Thunder baseball team put on an offensive showcase on Saturday afternoon, recording a pair of wins at North Park University. Wheaton broke out for 29 runs including eight home runs as the Thunder recorded victories of 16-6 and 13-1 to improve to 15-10 overall and 5-4 in CCIW play. With today's two wins, Wheaton finished the season sweep of the Vikings following last week's 6-3 victory at Pfund Stadium. Wheaton will return to action on Tuesday when the Thunder host Carthage at 6 pm.
In the first game, Wheaton scored 16 runs on 16 hits with no errors and allowed six runs on 16 hits with North Park committing three errors.
Daniel Bayer earned the win for the Thunder, scattering 11 hits over six innings of work and allowing four runs.
Ty Hoeksema and
Josiah Longenecker each allowed one run in relief with Hoeksema going two innings and striking out three. Brent Kessinger took the loss for the Vikings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in 5.1 innings.
Wheaton broke the game open with a seven-run second inning that featured three Thunder home runs.
Brett Albaugh started the scoring with a booming solo home runs to center field. The dinger was Albaugh's third in as many days.
Seth Meyer struck the next blow with a three-run home run to left center field.
Peter Newman capped the inning with a three-run home run to right-center field.

Jacob Zeller to push the lead to 8-0. The Vikings got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning but Wheaton answered with three more runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Ben Brittain (PICTURED RIGHT) started the inning with back-to-back home runs. Newman brought in the final run of the inning with a bases loaded walk.
The Thunder continued to pile on, scoring two in the top of the eighth inning and added another three runs in the top of the ninth inning highlighted by
Ben Brittain's two-run triple to record the 16-6 victory.
Wheaton scored 13 runs on 15 hits with one error in the night cap while limiting the Vikings to one run on four hits with two errors.
Michael McCraith recorded his third consecutive scoreless outing, allowing two hits over five innings and striking out five to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Nick Johnson allowed one run on two hits in two innings of relief. Josh Smith took the loss for North Park, allowing seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits over 3.2 innings.
Clay Morrison kept the offense rolling in the second inning of game two with a three-run home run to right field to open the scoring. RBIs by Albaugh, Brittain and
John McKenna pushed Wheaton's lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning. Albaugh added another RBI with a single in the top of the fourth inning and
Jacob Zeller added a big blow with a three-run home run to center field in the top of the fifth to push Wheaton's edge to 10-0.
North Park put together a run in the bottom of the sixth inning but Newman answered with a towering three-run home run to deep right-center to account for the 13-1 final.
Ben Brittain recorded five hits in game one as part of a six-hit day.
Peter Newman drove in eight runs including a pair of three-run home runs.
Jacob Zeller scored six runs with six hits on the day.
