The Thunder men's tennis team traveled to Ohio Saturday for a pair of matches. Wheaton opened the day with a 7-2 loss against Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. The Spartans entered the match ranked 12^th in Division III and third in the Central Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Wheaton, ranked 12^th in the Central Region by the ITA faced the region's 11^th-ranked team in Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder traveled to Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon for a matchup with the Yeomen. Oberlin topped the Thunder 7-2 in the contest. Oberlin is 11^th in the ITA Central Region rankings.

In the morning matchup against Case Western, Wheaton's victories came at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Thunder senior Justin Ancona (PICTURED ABOVE) defeated the Spartans' James Fojtasek 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Ancona is sixth in the ITA's Central Region rankings and Fojtasek is ranked 10^th in the region. Ancona teamed with Matt Steiner for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles against John Benedetto and Freddy Daum of CWRU. Ancona and Steiner are seventh in the ITA's Central Region doubles rankings and Daum/Benedetto are 11^th.
 
In Oberlin's 7-2 victory Saturday afternoon, Ancona again earned Wheaton's win in singles play and the team of Ancona/Steiner earned Wheaton's lone doubles win. Ancona earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Oberlin's Ian Paik. Paik is 23th in the ITA Central Region singles ranking. Ancona teamed with Steiner for an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Oberlin team of Paik and Jeremy Lichtmacher. Paik and Lichtmacher are 13^th in the ITA Central Region.
