Men's tennis shuts out Elmhurst 9-0

Elmhurst, Ill.
– The Wheaton men's tennis team returned to conference play on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 victory at Elmhurst College (0-16, 0-4 CCIW). Wheaton improves to 9-7 on the season and 2-0 in CCIW play.

Justin Ancona picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles and Dane Paulsen was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles. Senior Matt Steiner gained a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles and freshman Jeremiah Yi was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles. Josh Cheng earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles and Andrew Torok picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

Ancona and Steiner teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of Paulsen and Yi earned an 8-5 win; and the No. 3 doubles tandem of Cheng and Andrew Bristol picked up an 8-0 victory.

Wheaton hosts Carthage (8-10, 2-1 CCIW) on Thursday afternoon in a key CCIW matchup at 4:00 p.m.
