Carol Stream, Ill. - A number of defensive miscues proved costly on Wednesday night as the Thunder baseball team fell to Edgewood College 9-1 under cold and rainy conditions at Lee Pfund Stadium. Wheaton committed five errors leading to six unearned runs as the Thunder fell to 11-6 overall. Edgewood improved to 8-4 on the season. Wheaton will return to CCIW action on Friday night with a 6 pm game to kick off a three-game series at Millikin.
Edgewood scored nine runs on 11 hits with one error. Wheaton scored one run on five hits with five errors.
The Eagles jumped on the board first with two runs in the top of the third inning. Continuing to threaten with runners on second and third,
Johnny Peltz brought an end to the rally when he threw out an Edgewood runner at home plate to finish an inning-ending double play. Edgewood distanced themselves with five unearned runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead.
Wheaton threatened in the bottom of the fourth inning, tallying three hits but could not crack the score board. Wheaton's run came in the bottom of the sixth inning on

Wheaton will open a three-game series at Millikin on Friday night with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch in Decatur. The Thunder and the Big Blue will cap the series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
