Wheaton places 10 on the 2017 CCIW All-Conference Football Team

Wheaton, Ill. –The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference football team on Tuesday, with 10 members of the Wheaton College football team earning selections. Wheaton players earned six First Team honors with three Thunder honorees on the Second Team. Five of Wheaton's All-CCIW selections were on the defensive side of the ball (three first teamers) and five honorees were offensive players (four first teamers).

30201Senior tight end Zach Lindquist (PICTURED 30162RIGHT) was named a First Team All-CCIW performer for the third-consecutive year. Lindquist was second among Thunder receivers with 27 receptions, racking up 324 receiving yards with four touchdown catches. Lindquist was second on the squad in receptions during conference play with 24 catches against league opponents, for 306 yards, with three touchdowns.
 
Senior running back Sola Olateju (PICTURED ABOVE LEFT) picked up First Team All-CCIW recognition for the third-straight season. Olateju had a league-best 1,270 rushing yards this season, averaging 7.7 yards per carry with 13 touchdown runs. Olateju ran for 1,067 yards in CCIW action, averaging 6.8 yards per carry with 10 touchdown runs to his credit.

30173Sophomore wide receiver Phillip Nichols (PICTURED RIGHT) picked up First Team All-CCIW recognition. Nichols had a team-high 40 receptions for 467 yards this season. He has averaged 11.7 yards per catch with six touchdowns to his credit. Nichols had 38 receptions in conference play for 433 yards. He averaged 11.4 yards per catch against league foes with six touchdown receptions.

30143Junior offensive tackle Andrew Jones (PICTURED LEFT) and senior guard Jon Callaway represent the Thunder offensive line. Jones earned First Team honors and Callaway picked up Second Team recognition. The duo leads a Wheaton offensive line that helped the Thunder offense to 465.0 yards per game, with 245.4 passing yards per game and 219.6 rushing yards per game.

30108Senior Chase Greenlee (PICTURED RIGHT), a defensive end, picked First Team honors for the second-consecutive season. Greenlee led Wheaton with 21.5 tackles for lost yardage (-98 yards) this year, including 15.5 sacks (-86 yards). Greenlee's 15.5 sacks is the third-highest single-season total in school history. Greenlee is fourth among Wheaton defensive players with 44 total tackles (28 solo). In CCIW games this year, Greenlee recorded 40 total tackles, including a league-best 20-1/2 tackles for lost yardage (-95 yards). His 14-1/2 sacks (-83 yards) in CCIW play led the conference this season.

29041Junior Eric Stevenson (PICTURED LEFT) earned First Team honors at linebacker. Stevenson led the Wheaton defense with 85 total tackles this season, including 47 solo stops. He made nine tackles for loss (-23 yards), including 1-1/2 sacks (-8 yards). In CCIW play this season, Stevenson registered 71 tackles, including 40 solo tackles. He made six tackles for lost yardage (-9 yards) in CCIW play.

29435Cornerback Marcus Smith (PICTURED RIGHT) earned a First Team All-CCIW nod, this year following Second Team honors in 2017. Smith, a senior, had 29 total tackles and 18 solo stops for the Thunder this season. He had a team-high seven passes broken-up, with one interception. Smith made 24 tackles (18 solo) in CCIW play this fall, with five passes broken up.

29023Senior linebacker Luke Sahly (PICTURED LEFT) picked up Second Team recognition for the second-consecutive season. Sahly is second among Thunder defensive players with 65 total tackles (40 solo). He has 12.5 tackles for loss (-66 yards) this season, including 3-1/2 sacks (-34 yards). Sahly registered 51 total tackles in conference play, including 32 solo stops. Sahly made 7-1/2 tackles for loss (-36 yards) in league contests.

30191Sophomore defensive tackle Patrick O'Connell (PICTURED RIGHT) earned Second Team All-CCIW honors for second-straight year. O'Connell has 26 total tackles this fall, including 8-1/2 tackles for loss (-34 yards) and five sacks (-27 yards). In CCIW contests, he registered 22 total tackles. Sahly recorded 7-1/2 tackles for loss (-30 yards) against league foes, including four quarterback sacks (-23 yards).
