Rock Island, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team defeated Augustana 1-0 on Wednesday night to earn a key CCIW road victory. Tonight's win improves Wheaton's (8-4-3, 5-0-1 CCIW) undefeated streak to six matches with a 5-0-1 record in that span.
The Thunder controlled the pace of the match with a 20-3 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton's second shot attempt of the game was a header by
Madison Peebles that reached the back of the net at the 10:38 mark of the match. Senior
Morgan Whitman assisted Peebles' goal. The Vikings had zero shot attempts in the remainder of the first half, following Peebles' go-ahead goal.
Wheaton continued to dominate play in the second half as the Thunder out-shot the Vikings 12-1 following halftime. The Thunder has a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half as part of a 6-2 overall edge in the match. Wheaton's control of the ball allowed the Thunder to earn the 1-0 victory.

Kathryn McGregor made one save in 90 minutes of work in net for the Thunder to earn the shutout. Augustana netminder Sydney Ion made seven saves and allowed one goal in her 90 minutes of action.
Wheaton returns home Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for a conference match against North Central at Joe Bean Stadium.
