Men's basketball to host an alumni game and Mel Peterson recognition on February 11

Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder men's basketball program will host two special events on February 11. Head coach Mike Schauer and the program will host an alumni game at 11:00 a.m. in King Arena and all past Wheaton basketball players are invited to participate. Former Wheaton men's basketball players that would like to participate in the alumni game on February 11 should RSVP to Coach Schauer at mike.schauer@wheaton.edu as soon as possible.

At halftime of Wheaton's CCIW matchup with North Park University at 7:00 p.m. on February, 11, the program will honor former All-American Mel Peterson. Schauer says of the recognition, "Mel Peterson is the most accomplished player in the history of Wheaton Basketball.  He is the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in program history and was the key contributor to Wheaton's 1957 National Championship team coached by Lee Pfund.  He remains close to the program and an encouragement both to me personally and to the program generally.  We simply wanted to take a moment this evening to recognize the contributions Mel has made to the program and express a heartfelt Thank you!"
