Men's tennis opens up CCIW play with a 7-2 victory against Elmhurst

Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team opened up conference play on Tuesday night at home with 7-2 victory over Elmhurst College (2-9, 0-1 CCIW). Today's win improves the Thunder to 8-6 on the season and 1-0 in conference competition. The Thunder will remain in conference play on Saturday with a matchup in Kenosha, Wisconsin against the host Carthage College Red Men at noon.

Wheaton opened up tonight's matchup with Elmhurst by winning two of the three doubles matches. Justin Ancona and Matt Steiner teamed to earn an 8-2 win at number-one doubles. The number-two doubles team of Dane Paulsen and Lincoln Metz picked up an 8-3 victory.

Anonca won a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number-one singles against Elmhurst's Chris Harrison. Steiner picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number-three singles against Alex Abbuhl and Metz earned a 7-6, 6-3 victory against Kyle Endicott. Karl Wenzel was was a 6-0, 7-6 victor at number-five singles against Ricardo Franco and Josh Cheng was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at number-six singles against Elmhurst's Justin Delawder.
