Louisville, Ky. - The Wheaton baseball team wrapped up its weekend action on Sunday afternoon with a 15-6 loss to #19-ranked Baldwin Wallace. Both teams emerge from Saturday's action with a record of 1-2 overall. Wheaton will resume its schedule on March 5 with a doubleheader against Simpson College in Tucson, Arizona.
Wheaton scored six runs on nine hits and made three errors. The Yellow Jackets tallied 15 runs on 16 hits on four errors.
Playing as the home team, Baldwin Wallace plated three runs in the bottom of the first and seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to lead 10-1 after two innings.
Andrew Laucella scored Wheaton's run on a passed ball after leading off the inning with a double.
Clay Morrison cut into the lead with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning but that run was answered in the bottom of the innint to make it 11-2. Two more runs in the bottom of the fifth made it 13-2 before
Seth Meyer crushed a solo home run to left field in the top of the sixth inning.
Sam Lyons accounted for Wheaton's final three runs with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning. For both Morrison and Lyons, the home runs were their first career hit.
